Books Are Like…

Books are like skydiving. The beginning is the part where you get to know the situation. When you first jump and your face and body are introduced to the rushing winds surrounding you. Then the middle is where it all happens. When you’re free falling with your back to the sky, dropping faster and faster toward growing images. Then there’s the end. When everything wraps up and finds closure. The minute you pull the parachute and start to float to the familiar place you started. Until your feet touch the ground and it is all over.

Like a little girl screaming daddy come back,
As he's heading down the wrong track.
He doesn't even see what he's doing to her,
Acting like a drill sargent, waiting for a "Yes Sir!"
Only looking out for himself,
The hell with everyone else.
Forgetting about his baby girl,
As he's breaking apart her world.
Leaving her crying on the stairs,
Feeling like no one cares.
She begged for him to stay,
But he never tried to change, only get away.
Her back was to the door,
Hiding out from the family war.
Now she's looking at his picture through the tears in her eyes,
Realizing the feelings never die.
Finding warmth inthat moment frozen in time,
Can't get that image out of her mind.
She sees him again, and it's not what she expected,
He never fails to make her feel rejected.
But turns out she never really needed him at all,
Maybe to make her stronger, all it took was that hard fall.

Second Chance

Not everyone gets me,
Some don't even get the opportunity.
I'm not just given away,
You have to earn my presence.
And when you get it,
Take it and run.
Run with me,
And make something of us.
Because not everyone gets a second chance.

Different

We are all different,
But does that make us the same?
Does being alike set us apart,
or does the distance bring us together?
